Custom fitting was born in the 1960's when Karsten Solheim helped PGA Tour professionals improve their games by adjusting their equipment to fit their swings. The results were amazing. On several occasions, players went on to win soon after their visit with Karsten. It was then that Karsten started work on his famous PING Color Code System.

The PING G5 Iron's large head and wide sole provides forgiveness and consistency across the club face. Higher launch, more accuracy and greater forgiveness are the results of the widened sole which allows the center of gravity (CG) to be positioned lower and further from the face of club. The large Custom Tuning Port (CTP) stabilizes the face and dampens vibration to ensure a solid, pleasing feel.

The expanded surface area covered by the larger Custom Tuning Port (CTP) stabilizes the face for more consistent feel and performance at impact.

Higher launch and greater forgiveness are the results of the wider sole which allows the center of gravity (CG) to be positioned lower and further from the face.
By utilizing two uniform cavities, weight is re-distributed to the clubhead's extremes to maximize forgiveness. The cavity design also provides added face support for a solid feel
